The TEXTME story
TEXTME was a research trial that aimed to reduce cardiovascular risk in 710 patients with coronary heart disease. A total of 4 messages per week were sent to patients over 6 months. The messages were personalised for each participant and tailored for their specific needs (e.g. participants would only get smoking related messages if they were a smoker).
Patients were tested after receiving the messages for 6 months and the results were impressive: the participants who received the messages had a lower body weight, lower blood pressure, and were less likely to smoke.
Where was the TEXTME trial performed?
The TEXTME trial was performed at a single hospital (Westmead Hospital) in Western Sydney, Australia.

TEXTME PaticipantChronic Disease
Chronic disease
Chronic diseases claim two thirds of all deaths globally and in the next 20 years will cost more than $30 trillion, and push millions of people into poverty. We have treatments to help people with chronic diseases (such as heart disease and diabetes), but most simply can’t get the healthcare they need, because it’s not available, not affordable, or not good enough.
